Giorno Tre

Today there was a huge strike within the city. All the transportation was going to close down around 9 and not open up again until about 5. So we left at 7 to get to our Colosseum tour before the rush of travelers and before the strike. We waited and waited at the Colosseum and finally they told us that they weren't going to open it up either. These strikes are super intense! So now we were stuck far from home and the Metro was closed. So we started to walk.  We ended up walking about 12 miles that day. (Our teacher has a little tracker thing.) It was tiring but walking in Rome is no chore! It is gorgeous. You will be walking on a normal street and all of a sudden turn the corner to see an ancient monument or church. There is always a little surprise coming.

Traveling on the Metro is always an adventure.

Right when you step off the Metro this is your view! It is so surreal.

We saw many beautiful churches this day. My favorite was on Aventine Hill, San Sabina. It was beautiful but the view was breathtaking. It had a little park surrounding it and many look outs over Rome.

A day in Rome wouldn't be complete without a little Gelato!

This is one of our waiters from dinner. I noticed that his name was Danielino, meaning little Daniel. Which of course is just precious. So we were chatting about his name when another waiter came up and said, "You like Danielino? He is timido (shy) take a photo with him!" So we did. Then he definitely wasn't shy and eventually asked us to go get drinks with him. He was quite disappointed when we told him we were really sorry but we didn't drink. It was funny. Italian waiters are quite the flirts.
